Prostate cancer screening package $360 + GST = $392.40
An Important First Step in Early Detection
Prostate cancer may develop without noticeable symptoms in its early stages. Screening plays a key role in identifying potential concerns early, before they progress. This allows for early treatment if needed.
In just one visit, you’ll get:
- Consultation and evaluation by a urology specialist
- Digital rectal examination (DRE)
- Urinalysis
- Ultrasound prostate
- PSA blood test
- Personalised recommendations based on your results
Please be reassured that there is no obligation to proceed with treatment.
What We Check During First Consultation
Consultation and Clinical Evaluation
A urologist will review your medical history, symptoms, and individual risk factors and perform a physical examination.
Digital Rectal Examination (DRE)
Where appropriate, a physical examination may be performed to assess the size, shape, and texture of the prostate gland.
Urinalysis
This is a urine test to check for blood or infection in the urine.
Ultrasound prostate
This enables us to more accurately assess the size of your prostate gland.
PSA blood test
This is a test to screen for prostate cancer. It may be omitted if you have a recent PSA test report.
An elevated level of PSA may indicate the presence of prostate cancer.
However this test is not conclusive, and not all patients with elevated PSA levels have cancer; other diseases of the prostate such a benign prostatic enlargement and chronic inflammation (prostatitis) may cause abnormal PSA readings.
Additional Investigations
Depending on your initial findings, further tests may be arranged for a more detailed evaluation
- Urine microscopy to confirm any abnormalities detected on urinalysis
- Uroflowmetry to assess the urinary flow rate
- Bedside ultrasound of the kidneys to assess whether the kidneys have been affected by pressure changes resulting from a prostate condition
- MRI of the prostate for detailed imaging of suspicious areas
- Targeted prostate biopsy (transrectal or transperineal) for definitive diagnosis. This is a day surgery procedure
